Oppo F11 Pro to launch in India soon: Teaser video, images, 48MP camera and expected specs

Oppo will soon announce its own 48MP camera smartphone, the F11 Pro. Ahead of its India launch, a leaked teaser video and other rumours give us an idea of what to expect.

Oppo F11 ProHIGHLIGHTS

  • Oppo is gearing to launch the F11 Pro in India with a Panoramic Screen and 48MP camera
  • The Oppo F11 Pro will offer a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera
  • The Oppo F11 Pro is expected to come in Thunder Black and Aurora Green gradient colours
The next few weeks is going to be pretty crazy in terms of smartphone launches. We have companies like Vivo and Xiaomi launching new 48MP camera phones in India, Samsung announcing the Galaxy S10 flagship in the US, and some futuristic foldable phones at MWC later this month. Oppo is is getting in on the action as well as the company is set to bring the F11 Pro with a 48MP camera to India soon.
Oppo is yet to give an exact date for the launch of the F11 Pro, but the company has started teasing the device's launch, which suggests it can happen by the end of the month or early next month. If a report by 91Mobiles is true, Oppo will launch the F11 Pro in the first week of March. And tipster Ishan Agarwal said recently that pre-bookings for the F11 Pro will begin on February 22.
The Oppo F11 Pro has been leaked in renders and live images and promo videos in recent days, giving us a pretty good look at what to expect on the design front. A render published by 91Mobiles reveals a full-screen, bezel-less display with no notch or cutout. It seems the F11 Pro will offer a pop-up selfie camera similar to what Vivo has employed on the Nex and the upcoming V15 Pro, and this has seemingly been confirmed in a leaked promo ad as seen below.

The video looks pretty official and stays true to the renders and leaked images we have seen of the F11 Pro, which all but confirms the design. Oppo is highlighting the F11 Pro's Panoramic Screen, which is a fancy term the company is using to describe its notch-less display. The video shows the selfie camera rising from the top of the frame. As per rumours, the mechanism will house a 32MP selfie camera.

The rear panel of the F11 Pro looks interesting to say the least. The teaser video keeps in line with recently leaked live images that shows a 3D curved glass-like panel on the back with a rear mounted fingerprint sensor. We also see two gradient colour options, one is Thunder Black, which is a combination of blue, black and purple hues and the other is Aurora Green that sees a combo of green and blue shades. What's more interesting is the dual camera system, which is in a strip-like design that weirdly sticks out from the middle of the top.

Oppo F11 Pro with a 48MP camera

Oppo has already confirmed that the F11 Pro will come with a 48MP camera, which seems to be all the buzzword these days. There is an influx of 48MP camera phones off late such as the Honor View 20, Redmi Note 7 and the upcoming Vivo V15 Pro. But there is a difference in the kind of 48MP camera employed by the View 20 and the others.
Honor's flagship uses a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor that is capable of shooting raw 48MP full resolution images. The View 20 also lets you shoot in 12MP mode with a pixel binning technology that merges four images with 0.8-micron pixels to make a larger sensor with 1.6-micron pixels. In the default 12MP mode, the pixel binning allows for more clarity and detail in low-light settings. The 48MP AI Ultra Clarity mode comes in handy during daylight scenarios if you're looking to capture a lot of minute details.
The Redmi Note 7 takes a different approach. It uses a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor that is not capable of shooting in raw 48MP. The Samsung sensor is actually a 12MP sensor with 0.8-micron pixels that will offer 48MP shots by combining four images into one. The sensor uses four-in-one pixel binning technology to convert a 12MP image into a 48MP image.
The Oppo F11 Pro will either use the Sony IMX586 sensor or the Samsung sensor, but nothing has been confirmed just yet. Oppo's teaser does confirm that the camera will support Super Night Mode for better low-light photography.
In an emailed statement to Gadgets360, Oppo said,"the Super Night Mode of the Oppo F11 Pro functions with Oppo's exclusive AI Ultra-Clear Engine which includes the AI Engine, Ultra-clear Engine, and Color Engine. The AI Engine and Ultra-clear Engine delivers the perfect Super Night Mode which intelligently recognises scenes and optimises the settings. It also helps in optimisation for image-stabilisation during long exposure, low-light performance, and skin brightening."
As for everything else, the Oppo F11 Pro is rumoured to come with a high-end MediaTek chipset, possibly the Helio P70, which will be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
